Being contained by one particular method or philosophy in training is a mistake many professionals make when searching for a defining skill or niche that sets themselves apart as fitness professionals in the training world. It’s one thing to find a particular method to master and establish an expertise to build your toolbox of training. But being satisfied with one method will eventually leave you in the dust sooner or later in the competitive world of: results #1, entertainment #2, good program integration #3 and sustainable training #4. As the value and nuance of corrective exercise shows up in many functionally based programs, many trainers are making a monumental mistake. They think that the correctives are the program rather than the bridge to more progressive programming and training. This forces them to stay stuck in a box of limited training where we ignore the client or athlete’s original goals and convince them they are too broken to work on the intended program or goal.
